As Emergency Telecommunicators, major event stress and accumulated stress can have a detrimental effect on you and your health. Personal stress, added to the day to day stress of being a 911 call taker and Emergency Dispatcher, can take a toll on you. The Oklahoma Chapter of APCO International is concerned about each of you and would like to provide resources to assist in managing stress, ensuring you have a long and enjoyable career in Public Safety Communications. 1. Local Human Resource Departments normally subscribe to an Employee Assistance Program, contact your HR office for more details.
2. Oklahoma Emergency Responders Assistance Program (ERAP) – ERAP is dedicated to providing Post Critical Incident care to all Emergency First Responders and their families who are experiencing emotional trauma due to a critical incident.
